International Commercial Director

As Commercial Director, you will lead the commercial growth of a dynamic, international organization that plays a key role in supporting food manufacturers and retailers with food safety across Western Europe. While we are currently active in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands, we are also exploring opportunities for further expansion.

With a turnover of €140 million, a workforce of over 1,500 employees, and organic growth of 10% per year, you will be at the helm of shaping and executing the commercial vision. Operating across multiple business models and 18 international entities, you are expected to bring strategic insight, commercial sharpness, and operational drive to further accelerate expansion and strengthen the company’s market position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy across multiple business units
  • Drive high EBITDA growth with determination and tact across 18 international entities and 3 business models (laboratory testing, quality advisory, and software)
  • Address urgent and current commercial issues (e.g., underperformance vs. budget) and translate them into practical actions and planning
  • Develop operational commercial tactics to achieve ambitious growth targets per business unit
  • Strengthen professional and disciplined sales management, bringing best of breed methods & tooling
  • Actively monitor commercial KPI’s and intervene when needed
  • Create a comprehensive product offering & pricing, actively managing the Foodcare product portfolio
  • Create cross & upsell across customers and regions, also harvesting on commercial synergies spouting from M&A (for instance expand the business in Germany and France)
  • Launch new product market combinations (PMC’s) to address evolving market demands
  • Collaborate closely with marketing to drive lead generation and support commercial goals
  • Build the sales team, attracting & retaining local talent in the various local offices while coaching an international team of ambitious (young) professionals

Your profile

For this vacancy we are looking for an experienced sales leader that can plan and drive a very ambitious growth-agenda in a complex international set-up.

Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following points:

  • Sales leadership experience at scale: managing significant EBITDA and teams in a complex, international setting where convincing bottom line impact has been achieved
  • Experience in setting up a sales team from scratch and professionalizing a sales organization: creating sales plans, developing sales teams, and implementing top-notch sales management across different business units
  • Experience with executing post-merger sales synergies
  • Proven experience collaborating with marketing teams to generate leads, align go-to-market strategies, and improve commercial outcomes
  • Track record in selling and managing a broad and complex offering, with mostly technical products and services. Ability to operate at board-room level
  • Understanding the company/ PE-dynamics. Thriving in a high-paced, ambitious setting
  • Highly ambitious, entrepreneurial, decisive, on top of things, hands-on, authentic and low ego
  • Content-heavy, more technical sales approach (consultative selling). Preferably, you have a technical/analytical background, for example in engineering, high tech, food, or research
  • You are based in the Netherlands, Belgium, Northern France, or Western Germany
  • English language skills required, French or German preferred
